Hello and welcome to another edition of Livewire: E-News for the the CCTV Community.
November has been an interesting month, has it not? Around Concord and Carlisle the action has heated up with environmental rallies, concerts, lectures and local theater. Its likely that you or someone you know may have attended one of these local events. Its also likely you may have seen a camera or two present. That is because among the crowds at just about any local gathering, you'll find CCTV members who are dedicated to documenting the happenings and generating content for the community to share. It is about history as much as it is the future. It is about ideas as much as it is about content... and its fun!!!! Check out all the great new content on demand and on Cable Channels 8,9 and 10. Intro, check. So let's get to it... Crew Call feat There was a time (almost a week ago now), when we were formulating an easy way for producers to gather crew for their productions. It might come down to needing just 1 person to help setup or operate a camera for an hour or two, or a whole crew to facilitate a multi-camera extravaganza. Either way, CCTV's got ya covered. Just check out the new Crew Calls section of Concordtv.org On the lefthand side under "crew calls", you can click and submit a crew call, which will then be posted online. Members can then get in touch with producers to work on shoots. Simple as that, making communication between producers and possible crew a breeze, and allowing members easy access to volunteer opportunities. See the latest crew calls here. The Concord Band's Oct 24th concert was filmed live with the help of a few talented volunteers. A professional document was created that can now be shared and broadcast. Thanks are in order to Tricia Solio, Kathy Powers, Lois Suarez, Luke Anagnostopolous, Dan Diamond and Barry Mirrer. It was a fantastic display of showmanship on the part of the band (as always), and a collaborative effort by a quick thinking and creative video crew (also, as always). Thanks you again for making this professional grade shoot happen. The Concord Band sells DVD's of their performances to raise funds so they can put on even more fabulous concerts. Find them for sale at all Concord Band Events, to check out their upcoming schedule here. The leaves are all gone but Concord & Carlisle remain green. As a suburban enclave, the Concord and Carlisle Area has a curious place in the discussion of climate change. We know that satellite and commuter based towns have to work that much harder to lower their carbon footprint to the point of sustainability. Lucky for our neck of the woods, we have access to some of the greatest authorities on this subject, who can educate on the many topics and strategies that fall under the umbrella of "sustainable living". As the discussions have taken place it has lead to the creation of a whole slew of new content for CCTV. The following are just some of the new programs CCTV is airing that can get you and your community thinking green: Concord Climate Action Network presents Paul Epstein -
Life in The Balance: Let's Talk Trash -Sponsored by a supergroup of local organizations including The League of Women Voters and Carlisle Climate Action, this well-attended forum discussed the impact and management of trash in our communities. 350.org Day of Action Rally at the Old North Bridge - A West Concord Task Force Design Weekend and Master Plan Public Forum - Though not only focused on green living, proper city planning makes a huge impact on the sustainability of a community. As West Concord Village looks to the future you can stay connected to the discussion with programs from two recent WCTF events. Stay tuned into the discussion by checking out CCTV Channels 8 and 9, and as always, you can find all these great programs on Concordtv.org's Video on Demand under our Green Living category.
Also let's give a huge good luck to CCHS Varsity Football, who as of press time, are one win away from heading to the state championship at the famed Gillette Stadium. CCTV is airing not only the mens soccer championship game, but also the entire 2009 season of CCHS Girls Varsity Soccer and CCHS Freshman Football. Catch all the action on CCTV's Channel 10 and on Video on Demand. New courses and a new event... Read on. CCTV video production courses are more popular than ever!!!! What do you want to learn? An authority like no other on the topic of health and climate change. Dr. Epstein spoke on this very subject at Tri-Con Church in October.
